While modernizing the metro system in the town of Lausanne, Switzerland, a
series of tunnels channeling the river the town was built over were uncovered.
The plan was to have the elevator hoistways extend deeper underground.

A possible overhead winding-drum machine - Toronto, Ontario, Canada
If you look at the ropes entering the floor over the hoistway there are two sets of two ropes each.
If you look at the ropes exiting the floor over the counterweight there are only two. Where are the other two...
on the winding-drum perhaps?! Also...it appears we have wooden guide rails as well.
